The new number is slightly lower than the estimates from May

It looks like Samsung's estimates for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge sales are a bit lower than what we initially thought.

According to a new report coming from South Korea, Samsung is expected to move around 45 million Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge units by the end of 2015.

Samsung's flagship smartphones have been released on the market on April 10, and last month the South Korean media claimed the company sold no less than 10 million units in the first month.

The same report from last month quoted some researchers that claimed Samsung might sell at least 50 million Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge units by the end of the year, while the more optimistic ones even said that the South Korean handset maker might sell no less than 70 million devices.

But now, EE Times says, citing a report released by Deutsche Bank, that “Samsung continues to struggle at the low-to-mid end, while the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge combined look on course to reach a respectable 45 million units this year.”

If Samsung sells 45 million Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge devices by the end of the year, then the South Korean company will catch up with the Galaxy S4, which holds the annual sales record. We'll see what happens in the coming months.
