The Galaxy S5 is one of newest smartphones launched by Samsung that is getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Hopefully, it won’t be the last since the South Korean company is expected to deliver the upgrade for many other devices in the coming months.

It’s been less than three weeks since we reported that Samsung has kicked off the rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S5, but the upgrade was only available in South Korea.

In the meantime, Marshmallow for Samsung Galaxy S5 made its way to other countries and carriers, but in the United States, it’s been made available only recently.

Major carrier Sprint is among the first to announce Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is available for Samsung Galaxy S5. The information has been confirmed on the operator’s support page, along with some details about the update’s contents and the delivery method.

Some Google and Samsung security updates are included too

If you’ve been rocking a Galaxy S5 bought from Sprint, then you should know that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be rolled out in stages. The deployment of the update should be completed by April 19, so if you have received Android 6.0 Marshmallow by that time, you should call Sprint support.

According to Sprint, Galaxy S5 owners should “keep in mind devices receive the update in phases each day” and that “Customer Care cannot tell users when they will exactly get the update.”

In regards to the contents of the update, aside from the usual new features and improvements included in Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Sprint also mentions that Google and Samsung security updates are available too. Many bug fixes and minor enhancements have also been added.

Here is hoping that other carriers will start rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade for Samsung Galaxy S5 sooner rather than later.
