This summer, Samsung quietly introduced the Galaxy S5 Neo smartphone which went on sale in the Netherlands initially. The phone resembles last year’s Galaxy S5 when it comes to dimensions, but its specs have been watered down to make the Galaxy S5 Neo a more affordable, mid-range affair.

Now, the phone has been re-branded and launched as the Galaxy S5 New Edition in Brazil in Copper Gold, Charcoal Black and Titanium Grey colors. Pricing specifications haven’t been announced in the country, but the phone is expected to sell for a relatively affordable rate.

The Galaxy Neo 5 features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that features full HD (1080p) resolution and 432ppi (pixel per inch) density. On the inside, the Samsung Galaxy S5 New Edition is equipped with a 64-bit 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7580 processor, a Mali-T720 graphics processing unit, and 2GB of RAM.

There are also 16GB of storage inside the Galaxy S5 New Edition, but users can further expand storage up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

Also, the smartphone comes with a 16MP photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. In the front, the device packs a 5MP selfie camera.

Last but not least, the smartphone is powered by a 2,800 mAh battery and offers many connectivity options, including LTE Cat6 (50Mbps upload / 300 Mbps download), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0, GPS and AGPS and NFC (Near Field Communication).

The model takes advantage of IP67 ratings for dust and water resistance, so it’s a bit on the rugged side of things.

The phone also has a fingerprint sensor and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. The question is: will it get Android 6.0 Marshmallow?

According to some recent information we shared with you, it appears that Samsung is already working on the Android 6.0 update for the Galaxy S5 Neo, so it makes sense to assume that the Brazilian edition will get the same treatment one day. Although we can’t really speculate on the date at this point.
