The weird deformation on the screen is normal

Samsung Galaxy S23 is currently the latest and greatest Android smartphone on the market, and given its price, it’s not surprising for users to dissect every little inch, both externally and under the hood.

Some people have gone as far as shining a strong light on the screen, eventually noticing what looks like a screen defect in the lower right corner.

Oddly enough, after the information reached the web, more people started doing the same, eventually noticing a similar mysterious mark on their smartphones too.

Needless to say, it was just a matter of time until someone believed that Samsung has a batch of defective units, especially as screen issues aren’t necessarily uncommon.

But according to the South Korean company itself, this isn’t by any means a problem. And what’s more, the effect you see on the display is perfectly normal and is the result of the process that helps the screen achieve a higher level of waterproofing.

“If you shine a strong light on the display, some parts may appear to be squashed/pressed, this happens because of the pressing process for waterproofing and dustproofing. This is not a product defect. Everything is fine with your phone,” Samsung said in a tweet.

Of course, not everybody believes Samsung’s explanation, so the best option, in this case, is to just get the Galaxy S23 to a store to have it checked. Truth be told, the Galaxy S22 did not expose that screen sign despite going through the same waterproofing process.

In the meantime, the Galaxy S23 seems to be selling like hotcakes, though it’s perfectly normal for the demand to be strong given the device was announced earlier this month. It remains to be seen, however, if Samsung maintains this solid demand in the long term.
