The next Samsung Galaxy S model that will go live in 2023 is unlikely to bring any major improvements in terms of design, but on the other hand, the South Koreans are planning several other big upgrades from a hardware perspective.

This means the new models will look mostly like the models they replace, yet the magic will reside under the hood where the company is working on upgraded internals.

A recent report provides us with a closer look at the battery capacity planned for the Galaxy S23 series, and at first glance, we’re getting pretty good news.

First and foremost, the base model will be provided with a welcome upgrade. The current model comes with a 3,700 mAh unit, but the Galaxy S23 will be equipped with a battery whose capacity measures 3,900 mAh. Then, the Galaxy S23+ will also benefit from a 200 mAh upgrade, so instead of a 4,500 mAh unit, as it’s the case of the current model, it’ll be equipped with a 4,700 mAh battery.

The Ultra model will continue to be offered with a 5,000 mAh battery, so no upgrade for the top-of-the-range configuration.

On the other hand, what’s worth knowing is that Samsung isn’t going to improve the fast charging system available on the Galaxy S23 series. This means the standard model will be offered with the same 25W system, while the Plus and the Ultra versions will support up to 45W charging. As a result, the charging process should take a little bit longer given the increased capacity.

According to people familiar with the matter, Samsung is likely to launch the Galaxy S23 in early February, with shipping to begin later the same month. Needless to say, the company has remained tight-lipped on these dates, but expect more information to be offered in the coming weeks.
