Users claim the GPS signal is gone on their devices

Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra is, at least on paper, the latest and greatest smartphone from the South Korean company, so it makes sense for customers to expect top-notch performance from one end to another.

However, this isn’t always the case, as some users end up struggling with all kinds of problems, including most recently, a no GPS signal error.

In other words, the Galaxy S22 Ultra has lost its GPS capabilities, which means using apps like Google Maps and Waze is pretty much impossible.

A discussion thread of Samsung’s Community forums (discovered by AndroidWorld) has tens of pages of comments posted by customers who purchased the Galaxy S22 Ultra and are now struggling with the GPS problem.

“Same issue here on my S22 Ultra. Previous S21 Ultra had no issues and I’ve verified the location settings are correct. Old phone works in the same vehicle where the S22 shows no GPS signal so not a localized interference issue. Will try the reboot, but this one needs a fix,” one user explained.

March update was supposed to fix it

In some cases, users are being told to either ask for a replacement device or just wait for an update. As it turns out, a fix was supposed to land this month, but the problem is still around at this point.

“I spoke to someone at Samsung just now and he said the March update should have fixed the GPS issue according to him. His suggestion is that I send the phone back for a replacement which will take up to 10 days. I have tried a factory reset but still the issue persists. Another backup and factory reset for me tonight,” another user said.

Samsung is yet to officially announce when precisely a fix for the GPS signal bug is supposed to go live.
