Display bug seems to be happening on some devices

Samsung has started shipping the Galaxy S22 Ultra to some buyers out there, and while this is obviously good news for those who have the chance to try out their brand-new gadgets early, it looks like some people may end up disappointing.

This is because of a mysterious display bug that seems to be impacting some Galaxy S22 Ultra units and which causes a some sort of violet line to show up.

The bug isn’t exactly widespread, but on the other hand, it looks to happen only on the Exynos version of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. No model equipped with the Snapdragon chip seems to be impacted.

Obviously, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see Samsung once again under fire for the difference between Exynos and Snapdragon, as the company has decided to stick with its classic market strategy and offer the latter only in some specific regions across the world.

Just a software issue, hopefully

However, this doesn’t seem to be a hardware problem but rather a software issue that would be corrected with a future update. A report from SamMobile reveals that changing the display mode to the Vivid settings brings things back to normal, with the line across the display no longer showing up.

Samsung has remained completely tight-lipped on the whole thing so far, but the company is most likely in panic mode already, especially as such a critical bug discovered so early could significantly affect the sales of its new flagship.

Officially, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is scheduled to start shipping on February 25, so it remains to be seen if this glitch becomes more widespread once everybody who preordered the phone receives it. Of course, don’t be too surprised if a software update to patch the whole thing is just around the corner though.
