Hole in display is all but confirmed now

We’re less than a month away from the moment when Samsung will take the wraps off the Galaxy S10 lineup, and we already know pretty much everything about it thanks to the leaks that made the rounds so far.

For example, one of the most significant upgrades on the largest Galaxy S model will be the front-facing cameras that will be embedded into a hole drilled in the display for maximizing the available screen estate.

Part of Samsung’s Infinity O display tech, this approach is Samsung’s own solution to avoid using a notch on its devices.

As revealed by a recent leak, the hole in the screen will be placed on the right side, and although not easily noticeable when the display is turned off, it’s likely more intrusive when you unlock it.

The picture included in the article is an alleged live photo of the Galaxy S10+ and is specifically meant to show that Samsung is indeed embedding the front-facing cameras into the screen of the phone.

Other than that, there’s not much to see here, though the confirmation that Samsung will indeed go for this approach is all we need at this point.

In the meantime, a separate report indicates that the biggest Galaxy S10 could actually be called Galaxy S10 Pro and not Galaxy S10 Plus. It will be available with a Ceramic version and black metallic finish, with pricing to go as high as 1,600 Euros in Europe.

Full details will be unveiled by Samsung itself at the company’s Unpacked event on February 20. As for the beginning of sales, people close to the matter said this would happen in early March, as per Samsung’s typical schedule. The 5G model, however, could arrive at a later time, possibly a few weeks after the rest of the lineup goes on sales.
