Samsung is expected to take the wraps off the Galaxy Note 9 in early August, and while no official information is available in this regard, a recent discovery seems to align with this plan.

The Galaxy Note 9 has recently received the FCC certification, with three models getting the approval, namely model number SM-N960F, dual-SIM model SM-N960F/DS, and variant SM-N960X for the Asian region. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 was labeled as model number SM-N950F.

Previous leaks pointed to an early August release date, with two different dates making the rounds lately, namely August 2 and August 9. The latter seems to be the one that more sources believe it’s accurate, though we’ll find out more about this when Samsung starts sending out press invites.

Galaxy Note 9 tech specs

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is expected to be more of a transition model helping the South Korean firm buy more time until the Galaxy S10 lands in early 2019.

This means that most of the specs would be similar with the ones of the Galaxy S9+, including the processor and the cameras. On the other hand, rumor has it that Samsung could offer a new storage option with as much as 512GB, while the most expensive S9+ is currently sold with 256GB in the top-of-the-range configuration.

Additionally, it’s believed that the parent company could upgrade the battery to as much as 4,000 mAh, while at the same time improving charging speeds for both cable and wireless. An improved S Pen will obviously be launched alongside the Galaxy Note 9, most likely with refined pressure sensitivity.

Most of these details are still unconfirmed at this point, so it’ll be interesting to see how Samsung refines its phablet at a time when Apple is getting ready to introduce more dramatically-overhauled iPhones. Apple’s trio of iPhones is projected to go live in September.
