Dual-camera setup, improved pen, and fingerprint sensor on the back, all coming on the new Samsung Note 8

A new couple of renders claims to provide us with the closest look at the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 ahead of its public launch, confirming once again that the device is set to come with a dual-camera setup and a fingerprint sensor on the back.

As you can see in the pictures here, the Galaxy Note 8 looks super-similar with the Galaxy S8 Plus, only that it’s expected to feature a slightly bigger screen measuring 6.3 inches and offering the same 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

There’s no home button on the front, but unfortunately, there is no fingerprint sensor embedded into the display either, as Samsung is sticking with the configuration it picked for the S8 lineup, so it places the reader on the back of the phone.

No Bixby button?

This shows that technology to integrate the fingerprint sensor in the screen is not ready just yet, but on the other hand, Samsung goes for the same odd position right next to the camera, which means there’s a good chance the camera cover will continue to be full of grease from our fingers most of the time.

Today’s renders show that the fingerprint sensor, however, is moved slightly towards the edge of the phone, which is supposed to make it easier to use thanks to a somewhat more convenient position.

There is also a dual-camera configuration similar to the one of the iPhone 7 Plus, and the camera cutout will also be the home of the new fingerprint sensor and the flash.

The Note 8 will also come with a new S Pen, but what’s more surprising is that the renders do not include a Bixby button. This means that the render is either a concept or a prototype that didn’t have the feature, as it would be unexpected to say the least for Samsung to give up on it so soon.

Other than that, the Note 8 could come with 6 GB RAM, Snapdragon 835 or Exynos 8895 processors, and a bunch of other improvements that will all be detailed in the second half of September when it launches.
