Another image suggesting IP68 certification has surfaced

Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 has leaked in almost all possible ways, from press renders showing off its dual-curved design to specs and some carrier variants surfacing in benchmark tests. The latest leaked image depicts a prototype of the coveted smartphone, but one that has a flat screen, according to Nowhereelse.

It's all but confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy Note 7 will have a dual-curved edge screen, but a recently leaked image says otherwise. Of course, the picture simply reveals a prototype of the phone, which could mean that Samsung might have considered launching two models, one with a flat screen and the other with a dual-curved edge display, but it eventually changed its mind.

This would have been on par with the strategy employed for the Galaxy S series, where two variants were released. All rumors have indicated in the direction of a dual-edge display, which might not be to the liking of all Galaxy Note fans. What's more, there's no information clearly stating that Samsung will actually release a flat version of the handset as well.

Galaxy Note 7 could come with IP68 certification and Android Nougat 7.0

Unfortunately, the leaked image isn't accompanied by any additional details that would have shed some light on the specs. Still, we know that the phone is set to sport a 5.7- or 5.8-inch display, most likely together with a Snapdragon 821 and 4GB of RAM, although some are still hoping to see 6GB.

Considering that Google has just released the final Android N Developer Preview and has announced that Android Nougat will publicly roll out later in the summer, there is a slight chance for the Note 7 to come with the latest Android OS pre-installed. If that is the case, then Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 has high chances to be the first high-end smartphone to come with Android Nougat 7.0 pre-installed.

Another image of the Galaxy Note 7 recently leaked on Weibo. This one shows the device covered in soap bubbles and water, which would hint at IP68 certification. Samsung is set to release the smartphone on August 2, which is just two weeks away.
