September has been a really busy month on the smartphone market, with a major tech event held in Berlin, the launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, as well as the recall of Samsung's Galaxy Note 7. And now AnTuTu has released its top 10 smartphones in September, according to GizmoChina.

Apple's iPhone 7 Plus scored high on AnTuTu's list of top 10 smartphones in September. The smartphone ranked first with 172644 points, followed by the iPhone 7 with 170124 points. The third device on the list is the LeEco Le Pro 3, which runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, while fourth and fifth places are occupied by Xiaomi's Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus.

OnePlus 3 ranks sixth with 140288 points, the highest position snatched by a smartphone running a Snapdragon 820 SoC. Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 only managed to climb to the eighth position in the index with 138373 points. In ninth place we find the Le Max 2 and the last on the list is Nubia's Z11 smartphone.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and 4GB of RAM. The smartphone was recently part of a global recall and sales have just resumed in Korea, with other countries to follow soon. But despite its overheating problems, the device is still popular among users, considering that many of them opted to receive a replacement instead of getting a full refund.

Benchmarking tests don't always showcase the real life performance of a smartphone, but they still remain an indication of how powerful a device is when it comes to processing and other factors. However, software still have an important part in performance.

AnTuTu also released a list of the most powerful Android-running smartphones, and LeEco Le Pro 3 ranks first, while Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 only made it to the sixth position, with the same number of points. It will be interesting to see how the list changes once Google announces its two upcoming smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL on October 4.
