14 DAY TRIAL // South Korean company Samsung has just announced two new mid-range Android smartphones, the long-time rumored Galaxy J7 (2016) and Galaxy J5 (2016).
Both devices have been officially unveiled in China, and they should go on sale in the next couple of weeks. It’s unclear whether or not Samsung will make these smartphones available in other countries, but considering the Galaxy J3 (2106) is already selling in the US, there’s a high chance they will be rolled out globally.
Unfortunately, there’s no mention of what version of Android these handsets run, but they are likely to be powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. No word on pricing and availability either.
The better featured of the two, Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) , sports a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. The device comes equipped with a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor, coupled with 3GB RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.
There’s also a 13-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel camera on the front.
Great battery and connectivity options
The Galaxy J7 (2016) is powered by a large 3,300 mAh battery and offers a wide range of connectivity options such as NFC (Near Field Communication), 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and GPS with AGPS support.
On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) has the same camera setup but sports a smaller 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display that supports HD (720p) resolution.
Also, it comes equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.
The Galaxy J5 (2016) is powered by a slightly smaller 3,100 mAh battery, which is still very good for a mid-range smartphone.
