Samsung already announced new iterations in the Galaxy A series early last month and it seems that new mid-range smartphones are close to being launched on the market. The Galaxy J5 (2017) has just received WiFi certification, signaling the fact that the phone might be released soon.

The Galaxy J5 (2017) carrying the code number SM-J530FM/DS received WiFi certification, but the listing doesn’t reveal anything about the phone’s specs. Since the 2016 version of the Galaxy J smartphones were announced almost a year ago, the new iterations should arrive soon.

The listing mentions that the smartphone received certification running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but it’s difficult to say if the phone would receive an update to Nougat at some point. The Galaxy J5 (2016) came with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display, a 3,100mAh battery, 2GB of RAM and a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. This year’s edition should have improved specs, at least when it comes to RAM capacity.

The phone could be launched together with the Galaxy J3 and J7

Samsung will most likely announce the new Galaxy J5 (2017), together with the Galaxy J3 and J7. The latter recently showed up in benchmarks with Exynos 7870 CPU and just 2GB of RAM. It had 16GB of internal memory. Benchmark listings aren’t always accurate, though, and previous reports that pointed to a 5.5-inch full HD display and Snapdragon 625 SoC with 3GB of RAM are more likely to be true, considering that the phone is expected to have more powerful specs compared to the other two models.

Aside from this, the Galaxy J7 (2017) is also said to come with a 13MP rear camera and a 5-MP front shooter and run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

By comparison, the Galaxy J3 (2017) is said to feature a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC and 2GB of RAM, with up to 16GB of internal memory. It might have a 5-inch display with HD resolution and a 2,600mAh battery.
