The smartphone will soon be available for pre-order in China

Information about an entry-level Galaxy J series smartphone leaked online several weeks ago, so it's no surprise that Samsung announced today the upcoming availability of Galaxy J3.

The smartphone is now officially introduced in China, but we expect the South Korean company to make it available worldwide in the next couple of weeks.

For the time being, the smartphone is not yet available for pre-order, but the Galaxy J3 appears on Samsung China official website.

The Galaxy J3 is an Android Lollipop smartphone though Samsung does not offer any details on what version of Lollipop the handset runs at launch. Sadly, we doubt that the company will offer a Marshmallow update next year due to the phone's rather low specs.

Speaking of which, Samsung Galaxy J3 comes equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1.5GB of RAM. It packs only 8GB of storage inside, but users can expand internal memory up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

A dual-SIM variant could be released as well

The only strong point of the Galaxy J3 seems to be the 5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. Samsung doesn't mention anything about Corning Gorilla Glass coating, so we must assume it doesn't come with such a feature.

At the back, the smartphone packs an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls is in the front.

Samsung Galaxy J3 measures 142.3 x 71 x 7.9mm and weighs 138g (battery included), which makes it a rather slim handset.

Also, the smartphone drains energy from a 2,600 mAh battery, which should be enough for average users considering the Galaxy J3's rather low specs.

As mentioned earlier, it comes with Lollipop onboard, but also other apps and services such as Smart Manager and Milk Music.
