The device could be priced at just $699, leak claims

Samsung is projected to take the wraps off a new Chromebook rather sooner than later, and many expect the Galaxy Chromebook2 to see the daylight in January, possibly even at the company’s Unpacked event when the Galaxy S21 will officially go live.

While a confirmation in this regard doesn’t exist just yet, a new leak today provides us with a closer look at what to expect, suggesting Samsung wants the upcoming Chromebook to be quite a laptop by all means.

First and foremost, let’s start with the most important tidbit. The Chromebook2 could end up costing just $699, which is a price cut of no less than $300 as compared to the previous generation. This brings the Chromebook into a completely new market, as it makes the device a lot more affordable and could actually position it as a worthy alternative to Microsoft’s cheapest Surface models.

By the looks of things, the Galaxy Chromebook2 will be the world’s first Chromebook with a QLED screen, and it’s likely to measure 13.3 inches.

Launching on February 21

The device will sport an ultra slim profile with just 2.75 lbs (1.2 kilos) and come with a battery life of over 12 hours.

The main drawback is likely to be the processor, as Samsung is likely to go for Intel’s 10th Gen i3 chip, though there’s a chance it would be enough to handle everything Chrome OS users would throw at it.

The new Chromebook is apparently scheduled to land in stores on February 21, so even if it’s officially unveiled in January, we’d still have to wait for one more month to get our hands on it.

Needless to say, everything here is still in the rumor stage, so take everything with a healthy dose of skepticism until some confirmed info is shared.
