The smartphone has just been introduced in China

It looks like Samsung has taken the wraps off the most expensive smartphone in the Galaxy A series, the Galaxy A9. Many leaks in the last couple of weeks suggested the Galaxy A9 would be revealed soon, but we did not expect the handset to be announced this month.

Well, it appears that Samsung did not want to wait until next year to introduce the Galaxy A9 to the world and decided to make it official today, fonearena reports.

The Chinese version of Samsung Galaxy A9 comes with dual-SIM support, but we doubt the international model will offer this feature. Aside from that, the rest of the specs should be similar for all models.

It's also worth mentioning that Samsung Galaxy A9 will be available in White, Gold and Pink colors, though there is no word on the pricing or availability at the moment.

The good news is Samsung has confirmed the specs configuration of the Galaxy A9, which looks pretty much the same as that appearing in the latest rumors.

Android 5.1.1 instead of Marshmallow

First of all, the Galaxy A9 comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, which is a bit sad since Google already released Marshmallow a few months back.

The Galaxy A9 sports a large 6-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and features 2.5D curved glass.

Hardware-wise, Samsung's mid-range smartphone comes equipped with a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, an Adreno 510 graphics processing unit, and 3GB of RAM.

Samsung Galaxy A9 packs 32GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot. There's also a 13-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, OIS (optical image stabilization), and video recording.

Obviously, the phablet packs a secondary 8-megapixel selfie camera on the front as well, which can capture full HD (1080p) video.

The Galaxy A9 is powered by a massive 4,000 mAh battery that features fast charging. It will also come with fingerprint sensor 4G LTE support, NFC (Near Field Connectivity), Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS with AGPS.
