14 DAY TRIAL // Good news for Samsung fans anxious to grab the thinner smartphone launched by the South Korean company, as the Galaxy A8 will be available for purchase as of early next week.
Unfortunately, the Galaxy A8 will be initially released in China and there's no telling when exactly it will be rolled out globally, but since this is very important device for Samsung, we expect it to appear in other markets very soon.
According to French blog Nowhereelse, Samsung Galaxy A8 will be available for purchase in China beginning July 17. A Chinese retailer has already listed the smartphone and put a €440 ($485) price tag on it.
As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy A8 is the thinnest smartphone launched by Samsung and measures 157.7 x 76.7 x 5.9mm.
When it comes to specs, the Galaxy A8 is pretty decent, especially thanks to its large 5.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution and 386ppi (pixel per inch).
Octa-core Snapdragon 615 CPU and 16MP camera
Keep in mind that this is a mid-range smartphone, hence some of the specs might not be in the high-end class. For example, Samsung Galaxy A8 is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.
On the other hand, the smartphone boasts a more than decent 16-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash, video recording and f/1.9 aperture. Also, in the front there's a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies.
Samsung Galaxy A8 packs 16GB of internal memory, but users will be able to further expand storage up to 128GB via microSD card slot.
The handset is said to feature fingerprint sensor and a high-capacity 3,050 mAh battery. Last but not least, the Galaxy A8 will ship with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, along with the newest version of TouchWiz on top.
