14 DAY TRIAL // A year ago, Samsung released the Galaxy A8 smartphone, which was dubbed the slimmest Android smartphone. The handset was announced globally, and it came with some really neat specs for a mid-ranger.
Now it seems that the successor to Galaxy A8 has recently made an appearance on GFXBench, and some of its specs have been revealed, according to Roland Quandt. The benchmark test shows that the smartphone could come with a 1080 x 1920 resolution on its 5.1-inch display.
In addition, the handset could pack an Exynos 7420 chipset, the same that powered the last generation of Samsung's smartphones. The processor is listed as having an octa-core 2.1GHz CPU and the MaliT760 MP8 graphics processing unit.
Samsung's Galaxy A8 (2016) could be as thin as its predecessor
Galaxy A8 (2016) will come with 3GB of RAM as well as 32GB of internal storage. In addition, its rear camera capacity seems to reach 16MP, with a 5MP unit on the front for shooting selfies. The benchmark test doesn't reveal anything on the device's thickness, which is to be expected. However, the new Galaxy A8 (2016) should be at least as thin as the Galaxy A8.
Galaxy A8 came with a 5.7-inch Super AMOELD display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution, and it ran Snapdragon 615 or Exynos 5430, depending on the region. The device was 5.9mm thin and packed a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP unit on the front, and it featured 2GB of RAM, with 32GB of expandable memory. In addition, it was offered for the price of approximately $507 and came in multiple color variants.
On the other hand, the new smartphone has recently appeared on India's import/export website Zauba, and the listing has revealed that the phone will come with a 5.7-inch screen. Even though Zauba isn't the most reliable source when it comes to leaks, the website does manage to indicate which handsets will be unveiled in the coming weeks or months. It remains to be seen if the device on Zauba is a prototype of the Galaxy A8 (2016) or the finished variant.
