Samsung is working on upcoming phones in the Galaxy A series, and recent reports stated that the phones might be made available for purchase in mid-January next year. The low-end unit in the series, the Galaxy A3 (2017), has just received FCC certification, signaling an imminent launch.

A report by PriceRaja shows that the Galaxy A3 (2017), codenamed SM-A320F, has just received FCC certification, which means that the phones are likely to arrive during the first month of 2017. The listing didn’t reveal any specs of the upcoming phone, but recent rumors point towards a 4.7-inch display with 720p resolution.

The Galaxy A3 (2017) might also have an octa-core Exynos 7870 CPU, clocked at 1.5GHz and 3GB of RAM inside. Aside from this, IP68 certification would provide it with protection against water and dust, and the phone would be capable of withstanding 30 minutes under nearly 5 feet of water.

The Galaxy A3 (2017) could come with Android 6.0.1 out of the box

When it comes to camera capacity, the phone might have a 12MP rear camera, with an 8MP camera in the front. The device might also run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box and draw power from a 3,000mAh battery. The fingerprint scanner will reportedly be placed inside the physical home button, on the front of the phone.

A few days ago, leakster Roland Quandt revealed that the Galaxy A3 and A5 (2017) would be made available in mid-January in Western Europe, while prices could start at €349 for the A3 (2017), and €449 for the Galaxy A5 (2017) and its 5.5-inch screen.

The latter smartphone might also have a 3,300mAh battery and 16GB of internal memory, alongside its Exynos 7880 SoC and Mali-T860 graphics processing unit. The Galaxy A7 (2017) might not be made available in Western Europe, but that remains to be seen.
