14 DAY TRIAL // Now that the Galaxy A (2017) series has been officially unveiled, we can start talking about the countries where the three smartphones will be launched in the coming months.
Some of you probably know that Samsung has confirmed that none of the Galaxy A (2017) will be officially introduced in the United States. We reported about that last week, but we didn't know that at least one of the smartphones will eventually make its way to North America.
Since it's been confirmed the Galaxy A (2017) phones won't be released in the US, the only other option would be Canada. MobileSyrup reports Samsung Canada has stated clearly that it will officially bring the Galaxy A5 (2017) smartphone in the country.
The handset is likely to be available for purchase through Samsung's online store, but some Canadian carriers might pick this one up as well. As far as price goes, we have no confirmation about the retail price, but it's expected to cost the same as the predecessor: $400 or $450 outright.
“We are excited to confirm the Galaxy A5 will be available to Canadians, however, at this time we do not have any Canadian-specific information on timing and price to share. As always, we will keep you updated on any Samsung Canada related news as it becomes available,” said Samsung's official.
The Galaxy A5 (2017) is the mid-tier device in the new premium smartphone series launched by Samsung. It comes with a 1.9GHz octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory (expandable up to 256GB via microSD card).
The smartphone sports a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution, while on the back there's a 16-megapixel photo snapper with f/1.9 aperture, LED flash and 4K video recording.
Samsung also added a 16-megapixel camera in the front for state-of-the-art selfies. The Galaxy A5 (2017) features fingerprint sensor, LTE support, and a 3,000 mAh battery with fast charging technology.
It's been confirmed that the Galaxy A5 (2017) will ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box, but we expect an Android 7.0 Nougat update to arrive soon after release.
