Samsung announced new iterations in the Galaxy A series at the start of the year and it seems that the phones are already available for purchase. The first country where they can be bought is Russia.

Specifically speaking, Samsung introduced the Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) early this year, and the phones are already sold in Russia for about $386, $470, and $555, respectively, according to a recent report. The phones are available for purchase at multiple third-party retailers.

The new smartphones aren’t expected to reach the United States soon, but they may be made available in other countries. By the end of this month, phones in the Galaxy A series could be sold in Asian markets, but fans in Europe would have to wait until February to get their hands on the new models. Still, the devices are up for pre-order in the UK already.

IP68 certification and fast charging

One of the main selling points of the new Galaxy A phones is their IP68 certification, which means that they’re protected against water and dust. The Galaxy A3 (2017) is the low-end phone in the series with a 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED screen and a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor.

The device incorporates 2GB of RAM and has 16GB of internal memory. It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box, but could receive a software update to 7.0 Nougat soon. It draws power from a 2,350mAh battery and has a 13MP rear camera, with 8MP in the front.

The Galaxy A5 (2017) has a 5.2-inch display, a 1.9GHz octa-core Exynos 7880 processor, and 3GB of RAM with 32GB of internal memory. Battery capacity reaches 3,000mAh with fast charging, while the rear camera is 16MP. The higher-end model has a 5.7-inch display, the same chipset as the Galaxy A5, and the same rear camera. Its battery is larger at 3,600mAh.
