14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung is not over launching high-end smartphones, but the next one might be an even nicer surprise than Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge that were released about a month ago.
The South Korean company plans to launch a brand new family of smartphones aimed at the high-end tier. The so-called Samsung C-series contains only one device that we know of, but more are likely to be added to the family if the handset maker really intends to make it popular with Android fans.
Some of you might recall that a Samsung SM-C5000 leaked not long ago in India via Zauba. The import/export entity lists the smartphone with a 5.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display and a price of Rs 13,625 ($205).
Unfortunately, it’s hard to believe that Samsung would sell the SM-C5000 for around $200, considering the phone’s newly uncovered specs.
The same Samsung SM-C5000 has been spotted at Geekbench 3, and judging by the specs shown in the benchmark, this will be a high-end handset, a new report states.
Marshmallow is onboard as well
First of all, the unannounced smartphone will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, coupled with an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit and no less than 4GB of RAM.
Although this is a prototype unit that might have reported the wrong specs, this type of devices are listed with less rather than more RAM inside.
Aside from the high amount of RAM and decent enough processor, Samsung SM-C5000 is also confirmed to ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system right out the box.
There’s no mention of the display, but since Zauba has already confirmed that the smartphone will sport a 5.2-inch screen, we only need to learn the resolution supported.
If Samsung SM-C5000 ever sees the light of day, the smartphone should appear at TENAA, the Chinese regulatory commission, in the next couple of weeks. If not, then this is just a prototype that hasn’t been given the green light for release yet.
