Firmware update possibly to blame for the blunder

If you use a Samsung Blu-ray player, the chances are that it recently stopped working for a reason that not even the South Korean company seems to know right now.

And the worst thing is that you’re not alone, as the majority of Samsung Blu-ray player owners are struggling with the same issue, which is causing these devices to enter some sort of infinite reboot loop all of a sudden.

In other words, when you’re trying to use the player, it just keeps rebooting and rebooting without being able to play anything. In some cases, it acts like it’s unable to read the disc, and pressing the eject and power input doesn’t change anything, as the input is typically ignored.

The issue affects more than just one Samsung Blu-ray player, and there are posts reporting the issue all over the web, including on Samsung’s support forums. Some say the culprit is a recent update that the company shipped during the weekend, albeit for now, the causes of the problems are yet to be determined.

Issue currently being investigated

Samsung itself has confirmed that it’s investigating all these reports, and oddly enough, it marked one popular report on its forum as “solved” despite no solution actually being offered.

“We are aware of customers who have reported an issue with boot loops on some Blu-ray players and we are looking into this further. We will post an update here on this thread when we have more information,” a Samsung Community Manager.

While very little is known about what’s causing the issue right now, more challenging is actually fixing the bug, especially if the affected devices keep rebooting endlessly. If this happens, users might be unable to get an update and manual updating might eventually be required, though it goes without saying this isn’t a solution that everybody is comfortable with.
