Samsung has just announced a brand-new tablet, but this time, it’s not the typical device that you can use to watch TikTok videos and stay in touch with friends on Messenger.

The new Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro is a rugged model whose purpose is to survive in a more challenging environment. But at the end of the day, it’s a tough device on all fronts, as it also comes with software gimmicks to protect the user data.

The South Koreans claim the tablet can survive drops, and given it features military-grade protection, it should be able to work in the most extreme conditions.

“Equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro outperforms other chemically strengthened glass with scratch and damage resistance. It can also endure drops of up to 1m, or with the protective cover that comes inbox, drops of up to 1.2m. As an added layer of protection, the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro and its integrated S Pen are IP68 rated for dust and water resistance. And for the harshest environments, the device is MIL-STD-810H5 compliant to withstand extreme altitudes, temperatures, vibration and humidity,” Samsung explains in today’s press release.

The tablet has everything you’d expect on a modern tablet, including up to 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage, with microSD support also available.

One of the greatest features, however, is the user replaceable battery, so if the 7,600 mAh unit is depleted, you can get more juice with a separate battery.

When it comes to software protection, is the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro is fully equipped.

“Samsung offers Knox Suite, an all-in-one platform that makes it easier for IT teams to configure, secure, manage and analyze devices — whether it be a single device or a whole fleet. Samsung’s defense-grade security platform, Samsung Knox, also protects the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro with fully integrated hardware and software protections. From the chip up, the platform delivers end-to-end and real time protection against growing threats facing the modern workforce,” Samsung explains.

The tablet will go on sale later this year, but Samsung is yet to announce any pricing info.
