While everybody’s waiting for Samsung to announce the Galaxy S10 lineup, the South Korean company paves the way for the new Infinity O displays with other product launches.

Today, the manufacturer took the wraps off the Galaxy A9 Pro, a rebranded version of the Galaxy A8s specifically aimed at its domestic market.

The A8s was originally released in China in late 2018, but it now looks like Samsung is gearing up for the international launch of the device with the expansion to South Korea.

The specifications are pretty much the same as in the case of the A8s, so the only thing that’s different is the name.

Tech specs

The hardware includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chip paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The Galaxy A9 Pro uses a 6.4-inch Infinity O LCD display, so Samsung drilled holes in the screen to avoid using a notch and maximize the display estate. The Galaxy S10 is projected to use a similar approach, so the A9 Pro provides us with an early look at the screen to be used on the upcoming flagship.

The phone thus comes with the front-facing camera embedded into the glass, and the screen features a display ratio of 19.5:9.

There are three cameras placed on the back, as it follows: a 24-megapixel main sensor, a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with support for 2x optical zoom, and a third 5-megapixel sensor of the bokeh effect.

The Galaxy A9 Pro will go on sale on February 28 in South Korea, and it will be available in several colors, including Absolute Black, Black, and Blue. The device will be up for grabs for 599,500 won, which is roughly $550.

Most likely, Samsung will bring it to other markets as well in the coming months, though for now, it’s pretty clear that all the eyes are on the Galaxy S10.
