14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung is betting big on gaming. After advertising Note 9 and Note 10 as perfect gaming smartphones and teaming up with Epic Games to offer exclusive Fortnite content, the South Korean company is entering the esports industry.
Over the weekend, Samsung announced its official sponsorship of the PUBG Europe League. As part of this sponsorship, all upcoming PUBL PEL matches in 2019 will be played on the C27RG5, the company's latest curved gaming monitor.
Apparently, this is the first time that an official PUBG esports competition is played on curved monitors, so we'll see how it goes. The monitor mentioned by Samsung was officially unveiled back in June at E3 2019 and promises to offer a powerful combination of 240Hz refresh rate with a curved display and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility.
Samsung CRG5 is the world's first curved display to offer 240Hz refresh rate, which allows a fast response to screen transitions. Also, to eliminate tears, stuttering and any delay in action, G-sync compatibility from Nvidia syncs the GPU (graphics processing unit) and panel, offering players great dynamic and seamless gameplay during any scene in full HD resolution.
With an impressive 3000:1 contrast ratio, Samsung's curved gaming monitor promises to deliver deeper blacks and brighter whites. Just like many other gaming monitors, the CRG5 offers a wide range of game modes that should make the player experience comfier.
Of course, Game Mode is an optional setting that automatically, and optimally, adjusts black gamma levels, contrast, sharpness, and color for all types of games. Low input Lag Mode is meant to minimize delays between a user's input devices and display, while Virtual Aim increases and enhances accuracy when playing FPS games. Last but not least, the Eye Save Mode minimizes the blue light emitted by the display to keep eyes comfortable when gaming for extended periods.
