14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung has just made the Android 7.0 Nougat update official for its newest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. However, that doesn't really mean the update will be rolled out to users of these two smartphones worldwide.
The South Korean company wants to tease its customers further and has confirmed a beta version of Android 7.0 Nougat is now available for download in some countries.
So, if you own a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge phone and you reside in the United States, South Korea, or the UK, you can download the Galaxy Beta Program app from the Galaxy Apps store (or the Samsung Members app via Google Play store) and participate in the Android 7.0 Nougat beta program.
According to Samsung, users in China will be able to download the beta version of Android 7.0 Nougat shortly, so the list will very soon contain four countries.
As part of the Galaxy Beta Program, you will be able to get a feel for Android 7.0 Nougat with Samsung's newest UX. Moreover, you can provide feedback on performance, reliability and usability, which will help Samsung make a better Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
It's worth noting that you're not guaranteed a spot into the beta program once you download and install the Galaxy Beta Program or Samsung Members apps. Samsung was very clear that applicants are being accepted “on a first-come, first-served basis.”
If everything goes well, we expect Samsung to start delivering the Android 7.0 Nougat update to Galaxy S7/S7 edge users worldwide by the end of the year.
The perfect scenario would be for Samsung to try and offer the Android 7.0 Nougat update just in time for the holiday season when customers are looking to buy gifts for their loved ones.
