Windows 10 Mobile users recommended to turn to the browser

T-Mobile was one of the carriers that supported Windows phones at some point, and it was even the exclusive company selling the Alcatel IDOL 4S in the United States, but just like it’s happening in the case of the majority of Windows developers, all good things come to an end quite quickly.

T-Mobile today announced that it’s pulling support for its Windows Phone app, recommending users to turn to the browser to connect to their accounts.

“Thanks for being an awesome T-Mobile customer! We’re always finding new ways to provide you with the best experience possible. Unfortunately, our Windows app will no longer be supported beginning 8/25/2017. Moving forward, you’ll be able to manage your account at My.T-Mobile.com,” the firm says.

It goes without saying that the Android and iOS clients of T-Mobile will survive, and although no reason has been provided for giving up on the Windows Phone app, it’s pretty clear that the declining market share and the lack of interest from everyone, including Microsoft, is one of the main reasons.

The iPhone push

Instead of investing in Windows phones, T-Mobile seems to go down a path that makes more sense in the United States: it’s betting big on the iPhone, with Apple’s device advertised right on the home page with the motto “Get the amazing iPhone 7.”

At this point, T-Mobile is selling several Android smartphones and the iPhone, and even though a Windows category continues to be available on its website, there are no devices included in here.

The focus has clearly been switched to devices that sell better and not even the Alcatel IDOL 4S is up for grabs, which is nothing more than the confirmation that another big name is stepping away from Microsoft’s dying smartphone platform. Very soon, buying Windows phones will be a super difficult thing to do with everyone apparently giving up on them.
