This would make tonight's keynote the last opportunity to announce new products and services this year

According to the rumors and leaks of the past few months, Apple is supposed to launch a slew of products and new services, cramming tonight's keynote with a lot of product releases.

This course of action seemed to be disproved by the also approaching traditional October keynote which, in theory, should allow the Cupertino team to release the next OS X, iOS, and watchOS versions, as well as any products that aren't quite up to par for launch during the September event.

But, if you thought that Apple is acting according to known set of well-defined rules, you might change your mind if the rumor started by Apple-connected John Gruber proves to be true.

Contrary to all expectations, Gruber said on his blog that Apple might skip their usual October event altogether, "Lot of little birdies out tonight in San Francisco. The consensus is that there’s only going to be one Apple event this fall, and it’s tomorrow. So if there’s an iPad Pro, it’s coming tomorrow, no matter how much or how little sense that makes."

Tonight's event might be the last Apple event of the year

If it happens, this would mean that the September 9 "Hey Siri" keynote will be an event where an unprecedented number of services and products will see the light of day.

Among the expected devices to be unveiled tonight, Apple should launch a new and upgraded iPhone line with two different models with the same design, the 6s and the 6s Plus, a beefed-up Apple TV 4 with an iOS 9 core, support for Bluetooth gaming pads and faster processor, as well the long-awaited iPad Pro, that might get a 12.9-inch screen and a Force Touch-enabled display.
