Rose McGowan is fed up with acting and Hollywood, and she doesn’t care who knows it. In between honing her directorial skills, she’s also making her official musical debut, with a single called “RM486.”

It’s available online for purchase as of today, September 22, and it comes with a music video directed by Jonas Akerlund, who previously worked with Lady Gaga on her “Telephone” release.

The video was released one day in advance to Nowness, and features McGowan in a series of very eccentric and very revealing outfits, which, she says, actually stand for the different facets of her “morphing persona.”

I can’t embed it here because *it contains images of nudity that might offend, but it’s available in full at the link above. McGowan tells Nowness that the R-rated quality of the video is intentional, as her statement against the double standards in the industry, which will allow for images of shirtless men but not of women.

She also says that the first character she plays in the video, the white alien also shown in the photo above, stands for how she felt while she worked as an actress: “Not only did I not fit in, I didn’t want to fit in. […] I woke up one day and realized I hated acting and that I’d always hated it.”

As for why she waited this long to make her musical debut, McGowan says that she’s actually released music before, just never under her real name. At the time, though, she only wanted to “prank” her fans and see how they reacted.

She doesn’t say if an album would follow the single release.
