It's unlikely that bans will be lifted on creators

Video game developer Rockstar has responded to a situation that has recently developed regarding bans that were issued to a number of modders associated with the FiveM mod for Grand Theft Auto V, which is designed to create an alternate multiplayer space for gamers that does not follow all the core rules of the Online experience.

The company tells PC Gamer that "The FiveM project is an unauthorized alternate multiplayer service that contains code designed to facilitate piracy. Our policy on such violations of our terms of service are clear, and the individuals involved in its creation have had their Social Club accounts suspended."

The leaders of the FiveM mod have claimed that their design does not actually violate any of the rules that Rockstar has imposed on the community because it does not directly affect the multiplayer.

Apparently, they are actively using the Social Club to check that the copies of GTA V that are used to access their experience are not pirated.

FiveM is basically a single-player mod that creates another way to enjoy multiplayer for the title, and Rockstar has not entirely clarified its position with the most recent statement.

Online is the reason for the current success of GTA V

Rockstar might have issued the bans simply in order to make sure that gamers do not have a direct alternative for the multiplayer experience that it has designed, especially one that features less strict rules and allows gamers to boost their performance.

Online, which was buggy when it first launched but rapidly improved after updates and new content drops, is in many ways responsible for the big sales that GTA V has been enjoying recently.

Rockstar has not talked about the customary single-player downloadable content packs for the open world game and has focused all its energy on delivering more missions for the experience.

The studio has also delivered tools that allow the community to create its own content and to then share it with the rest of the players.

Rockstar has suggested that another big content drop for the Online experience in GTA V might be announced and launched before the end of the year.
