He knows it’s too soon but he’s “totally obsessed with her”

As heartbroken as he claimed to be that wife (and high school sweetheart) Paula Patton left him in February 2014, Robin Thicke didn’t wait long before he got back in the dating game. By fall that same year, he was already dating someone else, a model who was only 19 at the time and looked like a younger version of Paula.

Her name is April Love Geary and they’re still a couple. Perhaps because she’s not even old enough to buy alcohol on her own in an US store, the two put off going public with their romance until this spring. Now that they’re out as a couple, Robin is eager to take the next step, Life & Style Magazine reports.

Robin is “totally obsessed” with April

According to a report citing unnamed but reliable sources, Robin has already proposed to his much younger girlfriend, and she obviously said yes.

Both know that they’re rushing into things because they haven’t been together for that much, but Robin insists on making the next step. He’s even ignoring warnings from his parents, who cite his marriage to Paula as reason why he should wait before jumping into anything serious right now.

But Robin “doesn’t want to risk losing her,” says a spy. “They go almost everywhere together. He’s totally obsessed with her.”

If that’s the case, his marriage to Paula should have showm him that getting hitched is no guarantee for not losing someone: even she lost all patience with him after years of infidelities and called it quits, and they’d been together since 1991 (though married only for 9 years).

Robin and the divorce backlash

The shock was huge when she walked out on him, but it would have passed quickly if Robin had accepted her decision for what it was: a clear sign that their marriage was over.

Instead, he kept on insisting in live shows that he and Paula still had a chance, and he aimed to prove that by dedicating songs to her and even crying on stage. Meanwhile, at the afterparties, he would surround himself by younger girls and get completely hammered by the night’s end, according to reports.

He didn’t stop here, either. In what he would later deem the worst decision of his musical career, he set out to record an entire album meant to get Paula back, called “Paula.” It included questionable and hilarious lyrics, and even worse music, so it was panned by celebrity pundits and music critics as well.

Hopefully, his romance with April and the love he thinks he feels for her have not inspired a new record. The world would probably not be able to handle a chirpier version of “Paula.”
