Video game developer Crystal Dynamics and publisher Square Enix are announcing that they have decided to launch the PC version of Rise of the Tomb Raider on January 28 and that they plan to offer the video game on the Steam digital distribution system and the dedicated game store associated with Windows 10.

The new version of the title is created in partnership with Nixxes Software and will introduce a range of features that are designed to use the advantages of the platform, although the official announcement only talks about full support for 4K resolution.

Gamers will be able to also get the title on the Square Enix online store, big real world retailers as well as on Amazon.

A Digital Deluxe Edition of Rise of the Tomb Raider is offered, which allows gamers to get the Season Pass for the game and access to all future downloadable content packs that will be offered for the new Lara Croft adventure.

Scot Amos, the co-leader of Crystal Dynamics, states, "The PC release of Rise of the Tomb Raider continues the positive momentum from our highly successful partnership and collaboration with Microsoft for the launch on Xbox One and Xbox 360."

Ron Rosenberg, the other co-leader, says that the company plans to make sure that PC gamers get the best possible version of the title and that the community is both passionate and devoted.

A special Collector's Edition for Rise of the Tomb Raider is only offered on the online Square Enix store and features the video game as well as a Lara Croft statue, a journal, a jade necklace and a steel case, for those who are willing to pay 149.99 dollars or Euro.

The game is also headed to the PlayStation 4 during holiday season 2016

Square Enix entered into a timed exclusivity deal with Microsoft which saw Rise of the Tomb Raider arrive first on the Xbox One, but the fact that launch date was set for November 10, the same as Fallout 4, means that sales have not been impressive on the platform.

Lara Croft can reach a wider audience on both the PC, where a range of graphics enhancements can make the new environments shine and on the PlayStation 4, for which launch is planned for late 2016.

The new Lara Croft adventure takes the character to Siberia, on the trail of a city called Kitezh, which is supposed to hold the secret to immortality and might offer some answers to the questions that she has.

Crystal Dynamics has created a title that's designed to offer more tombs to explore than the first installment in the rebooted series and offer gamers more ways to interact with the world.

The development team is planning to introduce a wide range of DLC for the game, including a new Baba Yaga based adventure that will deliver another supernatural puzzle to deal with.

Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix have also revealed that a third Lara Croft adventure is in development, presumably set to arrive in 2017.
