It might not be the most visually pleasing game out there, nor the most polished, but Double Kick Heroes certainly has a soul of its own. The indie game developed by French studio Headbang Club is coming to PC, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on August 13. Before you ask, yes, Double Kick Heroes will be added to Game Pass, so if you're a subscriber, you'll get it for free later on.

Keep in mind that while the game will be released on Nintendo Switch and Steam on August 13, it won't be added to Game Pass for PC and Xbox One until August 28. It's also worth mentioning that pre-order will open up for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One on August 5 and the game costs just $21.99 / €21.99 / £19.79. The PC version of the game is slightly cheaper at $19.99 / €19.99 / £15.49.

Double Kick Heroes mixes rhythm and shoot'em'up elements, but keeps both aspects equally important. It features detailed pixel art and a full story mode that includes 50 songs, including a soundtrack by top artists such as Ultra Vomit, Volkorx, Gorod, Jinjer, Carpenter Brut, and Gojira.

More importantly, the game features USB drum and guitar support on PC and Xbox One, while Nintendo owners will have Joy-Con alternative motion control methods at their disposal.

Man, it’s been a long journey but we’re pumped to be finally sharing Double Kick Heroes with you all. We hope that you love our game as much as we do and enjoy the kick-ass soundtrack we’ve put together to celebrate all things metal. We can’t wait for people to try out air controls for Nintendo Switch which is a heap load of metallic fun, but please drum responsibly,” said David Elahee, Headbang Club.

This unique rhythm shooter mashup has 5 difficulty settings, which makes it easier for players to find their perfect playstyle. If you're on PC, you can find and wishlist Double Kick Heroes on Steam right now.
