Remnant: From the Ashes was very well received by both critics and gamers alike, so developer Gunfire Games released a few more DLCs that enriched the experience. Today, the studio announced they have released the free next-generation upgrade they promised a while ago.

If you're a lucky owner of a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S, and you already own Remnant: From the Ashes on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you can now upgrade for free to the next-generation version.

Even better, publisher Perfect World Entertainment and developer Gunfire Games announced that Remnant: From the Ashes is now part of the Xbox Game Pass for PC program, so those who haven't played the game yet can pick it up for free if they're subscribed to Microsoft's gaming service.

It's also important to mention that the game has now been listed on the Microsoft Store App and the Xbox App for Windows 10, and features cross-play support with Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S players. Yes, players launching the game from the Microsoft Store App, Xbox App, or Game Pass for PC on Windows 10 systems can party up with users on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S to fight for humanity’s survival.

As far as the next-generation upgrade, here is what you can expect from the enhanced version of Remnant: From the Ashes. First off, the free update dramatically improves the game’s visual fidelity and performance.

With this upgrade, players can now experience the survival action shooter in 4K resolution at 30fps on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and achieve 60fps (up from 30fps) at 1080p resolution on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

More importantly, the patch improves loading times so players can explore the Remnant universe faster than before. For in-depth details about the game, we invite gamers to read our full Remnant: From the Ashes review.
