Microsoft has started testing the rebranded Microsoft News app on Windows 10, after the company previously released it on Android and iOS earlier this week.

Microsoft News is a facelifted version of MSN News and comes with a series of improvements on all platforms, including a more accurate engine to deliver personalized news to all users.

With today’s updates, all these updates become available on Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile devices as well, though it’s worth mentioning that only insiders in the Fast ring are getting it for now. This means that Microsoft is still testing the app and should release it to everyone else in the coming days or weeks.

What’s new in Microsoft News?

With this update, the Windows 10 News app is bumped to version 4.25.11762.0 and it includes not only the said rebranding, but also some other improvements that would come in handy as you use the app.

For example, the initial splash screen has been updated as well and now features an animation, while the left sidebar includes a link to download Microsoft News on mobile devices. This would certainly be useful if Microsoft still supported Windows 10 Mobile, but on the other hand, it also points users to all mobile versions of the app, including on Android and iOS.

The same update includes new Fluent Design touches, such as acrylic. Fluent Design is Microsoft’s new design language that continuously evolves, and acrylic is just a small part of the visual makeover.

And last but not least, the new version of Microsoft News also comes with smaller refinements and improvements, so overall, the experience with the app should be smoother.

It remains to be seen when Microsoft pushes the update to all users who aren’t part of the Insider program, but it shouldn’t take too long before this happens since the app is already up for grabs on Android and iOS.
