Razer revealed the Hammerhead Duo, a new headset that’s powered by dual drivers instead of just one.

Razer is trying to cover the entire specter of headphones, with large ones for PC gamers, smaller models for people on the go, and everything in between. It might seem like the number of available niches is always shrinking, but this latest version is merely an improvement on the existing models.

Not to mention the fact that headphones users are often sticklers for quality. People are always checking if there aren’t any background distortions, if they fit well, and if they are just as good as the previous generation.

Two drivers are better than one

Usually, headphones have a single driver, and it’s enough, in most scenarios. But Razer figured out that two drivers just might be better than one. So, the Hammerhead Duo comes with Dual Driver technology, which encompasses a Dynamic Driver for bass, and a Balanced Armature Driver for high frequency.

The small size of the headphones would indicate that they are designed for mobile users, but that’s not exactly true. If anything, Razer is always trying to win over everyone, and we can include the PC users in this bunch as well, even if there is no Chroma support in Hammerhead Duo.

“To make it suitable for daily commute and travel, the Razer Hammerhead Duo was also designed to be slim and light-weight, while maintaining an aluminum frame and braided cables to make it comfortable, durable and fuss-free. It also comes with three silicon tip sizes for a comfortable and secure fit that effectively reduces unwanted outside noise. Its analog 3.5mm jack allows the Razer Hammerhead Duo to work cross-platform, with smartphones, PC, Mac, console, and more, states Razer in their official announcement.

Funny enough, Razer Hammerhead Duo comes in two variants. One has inline control with volume and play/pause control, along with a microphone. The second is called Razer Hammerhead Duo – Compatible with the Nintendo Switch and features a mute switch for the microphone.

The regular Razer Hammerhead Duo is available now for $60, and the Nintendo Switch variant should arrive in the 1st week of June.
