The Raspberry Pi is an amazing device that opens the door to a whole new world of possibilities, and everything is limited just by the imagination of the person holding it in hand.

A redditor who goes by the name of T8er8 managed to use an older Raspberry Pi for a pretty cool project that allowed them to watch Interface episodes on an old CRT.

Of course, this is involved quite a lot of work, but the redditor says they got the idea to do the whole thing when they noticed that the Interface episodes came with a 4:3 aspect ratio. And because this is something that you don’t find too easy on today’s TVs, most of which use widescreen aspect ratios, they turned to an old CRT that can now loop the first 12 episodes.

Old Raspberry Pi model required

The project is powered by a 2012 Raspberry Pi, and this is actually one of the key parts because newer Raspberry Pi models come with HDMI and no longer feature a composite output. In other words, should you decide to do the same thing, you’re going to need a converter.

“I was lucky since I had a 2012 Raspberry Pi laying around, which has a composite output, and I’m not sure if the screen you want to use is an HDTV or CRT, but if you have a pi 3 you wont have the composite out. pi 3’s only have HDMI out so if you want to use it on a CRT you’ll need an HDMI to AV converter,” the redditor explains.

You can find the full instructions on how to do this in this post on reddit, along with the necessary software to power the video playback.
