There’s nothing better than a good celebrity feud, especially one that’s been going on for the last 15 years or so. That said, it turns out that Tim Commerford, bassist for Rage Against the Machine, still hates Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit. With a passion.

Limp Bizkit performed in New York last year and ended the set with a cover of RATM’s “Killing in the Name,” a song that, Rolling Stone notes, they must have covered at least 100 times so far. The band’s frontman Fred Durst made it a point to tell the fans that they were covering RATM and this song in particular because it inspired them to go into music as well.

RATM is not feeling the love

At the same show, Durst said that hearing “Killing in the Name” for the first time touched something in his heart, something that told him that he wanted to make music too. It was a lovely tribute, one that most artists would probably feel honored to hear.

But RATM is not feeling the love.

Tim C. sat down for an in-depth interview with the music publication and one of the first things that he told the reporter was that he was very, very sorry for bringing Limp Bizkit into the world.

“I do apologize for Limp Bizkit,” Tim C. says. “I really do. I feel really bad that we inspired such bull[expletive]. They’re gone, though. That’s the beautiful thing. There’s only one left, and that’s Rage, and as far as I’m concerned, we’re the only one that matters.”

Obviously, Tim doesn’t know that the band he seems to hate so much is still touring and still putting out music: their latest album came out in 2011 and is called “Gold Cobra.” They might not be getting as much attention and airplay as they did in the early 2000s, but they’re still around.

A long-standing feud

As noted above, the feud between Rage Against the Machine and Limp Bizkit is not a new one. The first signs of it emerged at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2000, when RATM lost Best Rock Video to Limp Bizkit.

The other members of RATM took the announcement calmly, but Tim C. lost his temper and crashed the stage, climbing one of the set pieces. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, citing “very personal reasons” for his act.

Today, he tells Rolling Stone that he doesn’t regret what he did. He is only sorry he wasn’t able to bring that backdrop crashing to the ground like he planned to. Video of the incident is included below.
