Fans had to wait for years to see Ryan Reynolds back as Deadpool, the character he first played in the 2009 20th Century Fox release “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” but based on the first official trailer for the spinoff of the same name, it was well worth it.

As promised, the studio has released the first official trailer for the film. This being an R-rated release, it gets a trailer to match, so I can’t embed it here because *it contains images of violence and graphic language that some might find upsetting or offensive. With this in mind, the trailer is available in full on YouTube.

For those keeping an eye on the project all along, particularly on the stuff that came out of San Diego Comic-Con 2015, which Reynolds made sure to attend, this trailer brings nothing new. It’s the same footage that was screened at the event, but at least now we get the chance to see it in HD.

One thing is certain though: it doesn’t disappoint. “Deadpool” took years to get off the ground, but when it finally did, everyone involved, including leading man Reynolds, pushed to make it R-rated, so that it stayed true to the original comic book character.

This means that we get plenty of gore and even more humor, and a very appropriately-sized dose of badassery.

“Deadpool” also stars Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano and Ed Skrein, and will be hitting theaters worldwide starting February 2016.
