Bloober Team, the Polish studio behind great horror games like Observer, Layers of Fear, and Blair Witch, has just revealed its next project: The Medium. Unlike their previous titles, The Medium seems to be a much bigger endeavor for the Polish studio, and we're saying that based on the trailer that has just been unveiled during the Inside Xbox event.

The Medium is a psychological horror game that's supposed to be built around two different worlds and how a person can change his/her perspective when in contact with both. In The Medium, players will step into the shoes of Marianne, a medium haunted by visions who lives and interacts across two worlds: the real world and the spirit world.

Having access to both worlds, players will be able to get a wider perspective and learn that there's no one simple truth. To further enhance immersion, Bloober Team approached iconic composer Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill) to work on the game's soundtrack along with the studio's Arkadiusz Reikowski.

Undoubtedly, The Medium is our largest and most ambitious project to date, and it is one that we at Bloober Team have wanted to create for some time. Being able to work with the latest hardware in the form of the Xbox Series X – with 4K resolution, ray-tracing technology, and SSD for a single, seamless cinematic experience without loading screens – has finally enabled us to do this vision justice,” said Wojciech Piejko, Lead Game Designer, The Medium.

Although the reveal trailer contains some tidbits of gameplay, there's still a lot about the game that we don't know yet. However, the folks at Bloober Team confirmed that in the coming months they will demonstrate why the game is perfect for the Xbox Series X.

The Medium is set for release during Holiday 2020 on PC and Xbox Series X. An exact launch date will be announced once Microsoft sets the release date for its next-generation console.
