14 DAY TRIAL // Ubisoft’s latest entry in the Assassin’s Creed series, Valhalla is free to play until February 28, the French developer announced earlier this week. The game that tells Eivor’s saga is about to get a major expansion on March 10, Dawn of Ragnarök, so now would be a good time to try it out before the new content drops in about two weeks. Unless you’re too busy playing Horizon Forbidden West or Elden Ring.
Just in case you’re determined to give Assassin’s Creed Valhalla a spin, keep in mind that the free to play weekend event is available on Xbox Series X/S (except Japan), Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Google Stadia, as well as PC through the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games Store.
Equally important is the fact that during the free to play weekend event players will have access to the full main game content, and their progression will carry over if they decide to purchase the game.
A word of advice though: if you plan to finish the game during the free to play weekend event do yourself a favor and drop that thought. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a massive game that requires anywhere between 80 and 100 hours. Perhaps it can be done speedrunning everything, but that wouldn’t be called playing a game.
For those who end up picking up Assassin’s Creed Valhalla at the end of the free to play weekend event and manage to finish it until March 10, the next major expansion, Dawn of Ragnarök, will be available as a separate purchase by all owners of the main game.
As we previously reported, Dawn of Ragnarök can also be purchased as part of the Ragnarök Edition of the game, which includes the main game and the expansion, or as part of the Digital Complete Edition of the game, which includes the main game, the Season Pass, the Ultimate Content Pack and Dawn of Ragnarök.
To make the expansion even more appealing, all players purchasing Dawn of Ragnarök until April 9, 2022 will receive the Twilight Pack which will be immediately unlockable in the main game. This exclusive bonus includes the Dellingr's Envoy Raven Skin, the Havardr Lynx Mount, the Twilight Gear Set and the Algurnir Dane Axe Weapon.
