Friday the 13th might not be the best multiplayer game out there, but developer IllFonic hopes to return in full force with another title that bears the name of popular movie franchise: Predator. Unveiled back in May, Predator: Hunting Grounds is the new project developed by the folks over at IllFonic and, just like their previous title, it plays like an asymmetrical online multiplayer game.

For the first time since the official reveal of the game, we're given a sneak peek of what's to come as IllFonic released the first-ever gameplay trailer showing some of Predator: Hunting Grounds' mechanics.

In Predator: Hunting Grounds, you either play as the Predator or as one of the members of an elite 4-person Fire Team. If you choose the latter, your team will drop down into the map and you'll have to accomplish mission goals. You start by eliminating some AI combatants, as the player who controls the Predator appears slightly later in the match, just to keep the gameplay intense and fast-paced.

So, instead of searching for the Predator, the Fire Team will first hunt down human enemies and face the true danger at some point along the way. Predators usually hunt in hot locations full of strife and combat, but they will also use paths that are less accessible like trees, rooflines and other tall positions.

Naturally, playing as Predator, you'll be able to quickly run and jump from tree to tree or jump down to and up from the ground while moving around the map. The game features a system for the Predator, which the developer calls “Predkour,” which is basically a description of the Predator's parkour moves.

Another interesting mechanic is how different the Predator and the Fire Team players will experience the game. Hunting Grounds offers a third-person view for Predator players, while those who control the Fire Team will play in the first person. The differentiation was necessary as the Predator must see the paths available and hunt at the same time, and the third person view helps with both.

The game shapes up to be an interesting 4v1 co-op multiplayer, although it was the same for Evolve, a similar game that burned out too fast. Anyway, Predator: Hunting Grounds is scheduled to arrive in 2020 for PlayStation 4, so there's still time to see more stuff about IllFonic's game before its launch.
