One year after Microsoft acquired Brian Fargo's inXile studio, the developer has finally revealed when exactly their next title in the Wasteland series will hit PC and consoles: May 19, 2020. It's true that we have more than six months to wait for the post-apocalyptic RPG, but there are quite a few big releases scheduled for the first half of the next year.

Wasteland 3 doesn't require you to have played any of the previous titles, so the game is aimed at both new and veterans of the series. The upcoming title features a brand new story that will take place in the frozen wastes of Colorado.

It's been more than a century after the bombs almost destroyed our civilization and Arizona is dying. The Patriarch of Colorado has promised to save it if the Desert Rangers can rescue his land from his three bloodthirsty children. In this tactical RPG, players will be joining the Rangers, customize their characters thanks to a detailed creation system, and travel North to build a new base, equip a vehicle, and train recruits.

Wasteland 3 lets players choose their journey to explore Colorado's hostile frozen wastes with premade characters, then fill their squads with colorful companions they will meet throughout their adventures.

To be successful, players must establish and upgrade a headquarters that is strong, well-staffed, and able to provide them with the guns and gear they need to survive. Since this a squad-based game, building a team suitable for various combat scenarios is required to have an easier time in Colorado.

According to Brian Fargo, the partnership with Xbox allowed the studio to make Wasteland 3 the biggest and best game of the franchise. The game is now available for pre-order on Xbox One and Windows 10 for $60, but Wasteland 3 will also be available on console and PC on day one with Xbox Game Pass, so if you're a subscriber, you'll get it for free.
