Nintendo’s super-popular mobile game Pokemon Go is currently available on Android and iOS exclusively, and Windows Phone users are struggling to find ways to convince the company that they deserve a chance to play it as well.

With Nintendo remaining tight-lipped on the possibility of bringing Pokemon Go on Windows Phone, there has been a lot of talk regarding the game in the community. Many people believe that the company prefers to focus on Android and iOS because of the technical roadblocks it could hit when porting it to Windows, including using the Google Maps API on Microsoft’s platform.

Just a concept… for now

And yet, a concept created by the developer of One Auth, a popular Windows Phone app, shows that Pokemon Go for Microsoft’s mobile platform can be done, and it’s only up to Nintendo to decide whether this project deserves a chance or not.

“This is a proof of concept for a client to play the very same game on WM too. I won't be able to reproduce the same graphics, but it can be enough to just start playing with your friends,” the developer explains in a post on reddit.

As you can see for yourself, the Windows concept doesn’t look like the Android and iOS version of Pokemon Go, and the developer says that he won’t be able to offer the same UI, but at least it’d be playable.

“I wanted to share it to prove that it can be done. If you show enough interest on this project, and if no official app comes out before August, I think I'll work on it during this summer and I'll release it as an open source project,” he states.

For the moment, however, the only thing we can do is wait and hope that Nintendo will bring a full port of the game on Windows phones. Microsoft says that it’s already looking into options to make this happen so expect some more information to be provided soon.
