Niantic is slowly bringing the game in new countries

Niantic has just rolled out Pokemon Go, its smashing hit that was released earlier this month on Android and iOS devices in just a few countries, in the United Kingdom, thus taking another important step towards the final goal of making the game available worldwide.

Initially, the company planned to launch Pokemon Go in the United Kingdom on July 6, but because of various problems experienced at the last minute, including server overload, the debut was postponed until today.

As was the case with the original version launched for players in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand, the United Kingdom gets Pokemon Go for Android and iOS, and anyone can download it right away from the two stores.

Previously, players in the UK had to turn to different tricks, such as installing the APK or switching to the US store on iOS (if they had an account for the United States market) in order to get the game, but thanks to today’s official release, the game can be downloaded just like any other app from the store.

Fifth country getting Pokemon Go

The United Kingdom is the fifth market getting Pokemon Go, as Niantic also launched it in Germany yesterday, in addition to the three original markets that got it from the very beginning. The firm wants to make it available worldwide in shortest possible time, but this takes more effort than initially predicted, mostly because of the huge number of users.

Pokemon Go’s popularity has skyrocketed after launch, and it is currently the most popular mobile game in history in the United States, with approximately 21 million daily active players - Candy Crush Saga, launched in 2013, is the runner-up with around 20 million players.

Forecasts point to continued growth for Pokemon Go, especially because it will soon launch in new markets around the world, with analysts predicting that it could overtake Snapchat and Google Maps in the daily active users on Android chart.
