14 DAY TRIAL // Plex, the popular Android application that allows users to organize their video, music and photo collections and streams them to all screens, has just received a major update that bumps the app to version 4.6.
The latest update brings a huge number of bug fixes, but also some new features that make streaming to bigger screens much easier and more intuitive.
First of all, long-time users will notice that the new update brings more of Google's Material Design but only for the preplay screens.
According to the official changelog, Android TV users will now have the ability to filter and sort items within a library section.

But there's more, as Plex users will now be able to update quality selection to allow selection of “Original” quality, as well as only showing valid qualities during video playback.
The application now detects and warns about buffer underflows during playback, and features support for multi-part video playback.
The playback of MP4s has been improved when using the Experimental Player. Developers also added the ability to select a specific version of a video, if multiple different quality versions are available.
For Chromecast users, the update adds the ability to change quality and audio/subtitle during playback, while Android TV users will notice that developers have enabled support for searching channels.

You can now download Plex for Android 4.6 for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 3.2 and up.
Keep in mind that while the application is available for free, in order to unlock unlimited streaming to phone or tablet, you will need Plex Pass subscription that also includes many other premium features.
