14 DAY TRIAL // Everyone knows that PlayStation 4's software needs many improvements and optimizations, but some new features as well. For reasons unknown, Sony was shy to deliver too many of these much-requested improvements and now is trying to fix that at the end of the console's cycle.
With PlayStation 5 expected to arrive as early as 2020, Sony is optimizing the software running on current generation consoles. The next update plans to add some important features and enhancements, although there's nothing really major for those who prefer to play solo.
So, starting tomorrow, October 8, PlayStation 4 users will be able to download Update 7.00, which brings new features and services such as the maximum number of Party users increased from 8 to 16, network connectivity and audio improvements, as well as accessibility support with Chat Transcription (US only).
Keep in mind though the network connectivity and audio improvements will only be available within the Party feature, they're meant for the entire system. As far as the Chat Transcription goes, the Pary App will offer this feature for US users via the PS4 Second Screen App on their smartphones or other mobile devices.
The new feature supports US English and converts party chat to text, but it will also allow users to enter text that is read aloud to other party members.
Remote Play is another new service aimed at those who want to stream select PS4 games on mobile devices. The new feature can be used on smartphones and tablets running Android 5.0 or higher by downloading the Remote Play app from the Google Play Store.
On the other hand, iPhone and iPad users will receive an update to the Remote Play App, which will display the controller at all times and lock the screen orientation. And, of course, players will be able to use their DualShock 4 controllers via Bluetooth for Remote Play on an Android, iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
