The team working on the PlayStation 4 is ready to show users of the home console all the new features and tweaks that they will get access to when they get a chance to download the 3.50 firmware update for the device, codenamed Musashi for the close to one month that it was tested by a limited number of people.

Gamers can now choose to appear offline if they want by going through Profile, Quick Menu or login screen to tweak the new Online Status box and remain hidden from any other players to experience content on their own.

Sony adds, “Now you can choose to get notified when your friends come online. To receive notifications, access your Friends profile, press Options, and select ‘Notify When Online.’ For quick management of your entire Friends list choose to ‘Select All’ or ‘Deselect All’ of your friends via Settings > Notifications.”

Firmware 3.50 for the PlayStation 4 also makes it easy for users to schedule gameplay sessions with friends, automatically adding them to a Party at the chosen time and an event can also be shared with a Community.

The Sony home console is also getting Remote Play for the PC and Mac, and gamers have a number of options to choose from and can play their favorite titles via the DualShock 4.

The PlayStation Plus hub and the social capabilities of the PlayStation 4 also get a boost with 3.50 firmware.

Sony has promised to improve the feature set of its home console

The company has stated that it does not want to introduce a price cut for the PlayStation 4 anytime soon because it feels it can increase the value associated with the platform by adding new and interesting social, streaming and gameplay features.

Rumors are currently talking about a PlayStation 4K that's in development and might have its own new firmware version on launch, which could take place before the end of the year.

According to sources, Sony wants to introduce a new version of its home console that offers twice the GPU power and is able to play at least some content in 4K resolution.

The price of the new hardware is supposed to be 499 dollars or Euro and the current model might get a price cut at that point.

The company has also confirmed that its PlayStation VR solution is coming in October and will be sold for 399 dollars or Euro, with gamers required to own a PS4 and a PS Camera.
